Castle On The Coast Review (Xbox Series S)

For this Castle On The Coast Review, we play a 3D platformer with classical collectathon mechanics with George the Giraffe as the protagonist. Watch as we parkour through a magical castle, explore challenging large-scale open levels full of crystal caverns, stone-laden halls, and trippy alternate dimensions, all in the name of bringing together a family of the two powerful, conflicted wizards.

Valley Children’s Hospital

George the Giraffe is the official mascot of Valley Children’s Hospital in California. George has symbolized the love and care found at Valley Children’s there for nearly seven decades. “Adopted” as the hospital’s mascot by its five founding mothers, a giraffe was chosen because they have the largest heart of any land mammal. And that heart is present in the care provided at Valley Children’s every single day. A portion of Klabater’s sales revenue will support the Valley Children’s Hospital programs, which provide comprehensive care exclusively for children.

Summary

Castle On The Coast is an action-adventure game with a huge emphasis on platforming with a few combat instances. The majority of the game is you jumping around platforms (or flying with the jetpack) and collecting keys and gems. It is sluggish to play with it constantly feeling like you have a button press delay, add in the crazy camera shenanigans and you have yourself a torrid time. Even as a game that houses easy achievements and a short game completion time it never really plays well. If you like aimless basic platforming then fine go get your achievements otherwise it’s a game that children could play as to learn the genre and the message is that of a good one but the game is rough in a lot of places.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
