  • No accessibility options.
  • The game starts with spider enemies and has no warnings or options to turn them off or change them.
  • Character animations are robotic.
  • Had it a few times where I would get stuck in a running animation.
  • You cannot do certain actions when your weapon is drawn, you have to put weapons away to pick up items or jump or climb, and even running requires you to sheath your weapon.
  • No lock-on button for combat.
  • A lot of tight corridor-like areas.
  • The menus themselves are fine but it doesn’t provide a good experience for knowing when you’ve equipped and unequipped something.
  • The pickup animation is slow.
  • You have a small limit on how many potions of each type you can carry at once.
  • Fell through the floor on some platforming segments.
  • Hard to distinguish which potion is which because health comes in different sizes.
  • Hard to see pickups and the game in general is very dark.

Summary

Chronicles Of Sagrea offers a mixed experience with both notable strengths and significant drawbacks. On the positive side, the game features decent graphics and a fitting soundtrack that adds atmosphere to the adventure. The action-adventure gameplay is streamlined, focusing on a more direct experience by minimizing downtime. Players can choose from three characters, each with unique traits and weapon specialties, and the game offers five difficulty levels to cater to different skill levels. The 3D game world is fully explorable with a third-person view and 360-degree camera control, and the fast loading times enhance the overall experience. The hack-and-slash combat system, combined with the ability to earn EXP and level up, provides a satisfying progression. Additionally, the game supports full controller use, customizable controls, and various graphics settings, making it accessible to a wide range of players.

However, the game has several issues that detract from the overall experience. There are no accessibility options, and the game starts with spider enemies without any warnings or options to disable them, which could be problematic for some players. Character animations are often robotic, and there are instances where players can get stuck in a running animation. The lack of a lock-on button for combat and the requirement to sheath weapons to perform basic actions like picking up items or running can be frustrating. The menus are not user-friendly, making it difficult to know when items are equipped or unequipped. Additionally, the game has some technical issues, such as falling through the floor during platforming segments and difficulty distinguishing between different potions due to their similar appearance.

In summary, Chronicles Of Sagrea is a fun and engaging action-adventure game with a lot of potential, especially once players level up and become familiar with the combat system. However, the lack of accessibility options, technical issues, and some gameplay mechanics can hinder the overall experience. Despite these drawbacks, the game’s strengths in graphics, soundtrack, and streamlined gameplay make it worth considering for fans of the genre.
