Summary

Ex-Zodiac is a fast-paced rail shooter that harkens back to the classic games of the genre, offering a nostalgic trip with a modern twist. The game’s vibrant pixel art and fluid animation stand out, creating an engaging visual experience that complements the high-speed gameplay. The controls are tight and responsive, which is crucial for the precision required in dodging obstacles and targeting enemies. The soundtrack is another highlight, with energetic tracks that match the game’s intensity.

However, the game is not without its flaws. Some players might find the difficulty curve a bit steep, leading to potentially frustrating moments, especially in later levels. Additionally, the game’s length might be disappointing for those looking for a more extensive experience, as it can be completed in a relatively short amount of time.

In summary, Ex-Zodiac delivers an adrenaline-fueled experience with its excellent controls, striking visuals, and dynamic soundtrack. While it may pose a challenge for some and leave players wanting more, it stands as a solid entry in the genre that will satisfy fans of classic arcade shooters. The game successfully captures the essence of what made its predecessors great, while also making its own mark with a distinctive style and feel.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
