Exoprimal Review (Steam)
For this Exoprimal Review, we play an online, team-based action game that pits humanity’s cutting-edge exosuit technology against history’s most ferocious beasts – dinosaurs. Exosuits are grouped into different roles, and players will pilot these exosuits to hold firm against overwhelming dinosaur swarms in online-only, team-based action game modes.

- 3rd person views with full 360 camera control.
- Can skip and fast-forward interactions and cutscenes.
- You have a Battlepass-like progress system for your player level and each individual exosuit.
- The game plays out where you are and a team of five and face off against another team of four except all you see of the enemy is their outline. It’s then a race to complete the same missions with a final mission showdown.
- You get constant feedback on whether you are behind or in front of your opponents.
- At any time you can change your exosuit.
- Briefly see the enemy running around and fighting dinosaurs.
- Three ways to play – PVP (enemy fight at the end mission), random (either), and PvE where you don’t fight the enemy team at the final mission.
- The Watcher gives you a guided line to missions.
- Final missions can be an escort of a cube to the goal scenario or a more full-on fighting one with many dinosaurs.
- impressive on-screen amount of dinosaurs.
- Full animated and still emote interactions wheel.
- Earn and unlock in-game currency, exosuit skins, and weapon skins.

- The MVP award is given at the end.
- Satisfying gunplay with good feedback.
- The story is told via cutscenes but they unlock as you do missions and play games.
- Pick up materials from elite dinosaurs that let you craft things like turrets, platforms, or walls.
- You can revive each other.
- Mini maps and on-screen icons help the flow of the game.
- Press a button to bring up the controls but also what abilities and weapons you have.
- The more games you play the more new routes and locations open up.
- Battlepass system is in the game with free and premium tiers.
- It’s a game you can just play a few games and get what you want from it.
- At times you will get special one-off missions complete with all-new cutscenes and stories.
- Such a great feeling when you get new levels, locations, or missions.
- Bots will take over from anyone who leaves.
- It’s online only, no single-player.
- New dinosaurs and Dino attacks come in over time. Dino attacks look incredible.
- Cool collection of characters.
- Plays as a brutal racing game in a way.
- Has a strong pull and due to how short a game is the whole “one more go” mantra is life.
- Simple easy-to-use ping system.
Exoprimal Review Cons:
- Slow matchmaking in that you have to wait in a lobby and hear the same dialogue repeatedly.
- It takes a lot of getting used to.
- Very grindy especially in terms of new locations and unlocks.
- Doesn’t offer a benchmark test for the graphics.
- The way the story unfolds is a weird one as it’s over time and not as clear as you would like.
- A few game modes don’t work like the final mission capture the points mode as the respawn is way too slow and it’s all way too chaotic.
- Locations and modes repeat a lot.
- The bots are not great.
- No way to quit matchmaking.
- Could do with a training section for each of the possible missions and tasks so you can get used to it and learn the flow.
- You have no way to select certain locations or missions, it will always be random.
- Weird having a Battlepass ready to go at launch.
