Hello Stranger review – Imagine being trapped in your own smart home, forced to play deadly games just to survive. Hello Stranger pulls you into a psychological horror-thriller where every choice shapes fate, tension rises with every interaction, and the mystery unfolds in unexpected ways.

Hello Stranger Review Pros

  • Awesome video quality and graphics.
  • 31.32GB download size.
  • Steam achievements.
  • Full controller support.
  • Video settings – display mode and resolution.
  • Subtitles support, and you can change the size of them.
  • Decision-making gameplay.
  • Two voice assistant choices – male or female each have their own unique style and presentation.
  • Full stats screen showing how many of the scene endings, decisions, and deaths you have discovered.
  • A handy flow chart showing your choices so you know where to deviate on future runs.
  • Multiple endings, 10 to be exact.
  • The game boasts 460 unique scenes to watch.
  • Two ways to play the game – game mode (more mini games and a wider variety of games), and cinema mode (fewer mini games and more choice-making mechanics).
  • A whole lot of replay value.
  • Decision options for a playthrough – timed or the game pauses so you can think about it.
  • Real world video, I mean I’m trying to say it’s video and not video games, but instead I’m making it more confusing.
  • Excellent acting work throughout from the characters.
  • The flow of choices is smooth, you don’t see any sort of loading or stuttering.
  • Fantastic group of characters and story.
  • I cannot talk about the story as it will ruin what is a great experience.
  • The games will have a brief pop-up telling you the controls and general rules of the game.
  • It’s funny, but one thing I really liked was the reactions you get from your character when playing the games; it nailed it for my own personal reactions.
  • A Game of fun in solo or with friends.
  • If you die, you get to either use a checkpoint or start again.
  • To mix it up, they randomise the order of choices each time.
  • Further play-throughs will let you skip scenes you have watched.
  • I enjoyed playing through the game and seeing how it changed it all up.

Hello Stranger Review Cons

  • Not a fan of either AI assistant voice.
  • I kind of wish a notification noise came up when a choice was coming, or it was on screen.
  • No actual settings for graphics.
  • Cannot remap any controls, no real need to, but I like to be thorough.
  • Some of the characters are annoying, but it does add to it.
  • Some of the story doesn’t seem natural, and it feels forced and unnatural.
  • For some of the choices, a bit more context or description would be nice.
  • It doesn’t bother me, but I’m mentioning that you can see the low production quality in places.
  • A few sections can be a real assault on the senses. They don’t have a warning that it’s happening.
  • You don’t know when you have hit a checkpoint.
  • There is no way to skip or fast forward watched scenes after messing up.
  • When you fail, it’s a long, drawn-out thing, mostly because you can’t skip any of it.
  • Cannot skip the credits.
  • A short game, I clocked a playthrough in under an hour.
  • It felt weird that the AI’s name was the same regardless of male or female.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
