Today for our Hoa Review we show off Hoa, a beautiful puzzle-platforming game that features breathtaking hand-painted art, lovely music, and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Experience the magic of nature and imagination as you play the main character, Hoa, on her journey through breathtaking environments back to where it all began.
Hoa Review Pros:
- Beautiful cartoon/anime-style graphics.
- 3.8GB download size.
- 1000 Gamerscore.
- Platformer gameplay.
- Studio Ghibli vibes from the presentation to the music and flow.
- Talk with creatures to get them to follow you, use them for aiding travel around the world.
- Tranquil classical soundtrack.
- The Butterflies are what you collect in order to awaken the great leader in each area.
- Eight chapters.
- Fully unlocked chapter select so you can play the game in any order.
- Easy achievements list.
- Gives up the majority of the achievements very quickly.
- Slight puzzle elements to how the platforming works.
- The level feels like it is alive with platforms sprouting as you get near them for example.
- Momentum-based swinging sections.
- Enemies can even be used to your advantage.
- The map fills in as you explore with icons of bosses, butterflies, and engravings.
- Fill in engravings to change or add new routes to the chapter.
- Each chapter has a main hub part.
- Unlock new abilities as you clear a chapter.
- A more laid-back experience.
Hoa Review Cons:
- Doesn’t have any voicework.
- Grabbing and swinging on vines/plants is very tedious.
- Having all chapters open is good but it does kind of mess the story up.
- The jumping and air control in particular is not as tight as it could be.
- No replay value at all.
- Very much just a platformer with no extras like secrets or Collectibles.
- Getting new abilities is just a case of playing through the chapters.
