Is Left Alive Worth Playing Now?
It might be 2022 but that doesn’t answer the question Is Left Alive Worth Playing Now?
Do you remember Left Alive? The action game was released by Square Enix back in 2019 and it did not review well, in fact, some questioned why this game ever got released. It’s a game that boasts a Dev team of individuals that have Metal Gear Solid among their ranks, this is where the problems started. You don’t go out there using the Metal Gear Solid name and set the expectation so high that you can never get to that level!
OK so I started this game a while ago but it got a bit janky so I left it for what felt like decades and then one day I decided I would see it through, I don’t like to say a game is really really really bad unless I have finished it. Challenge set I got the game installed on my Playstation 5, you know the newer more powerful console from Sony? I thought this would help me like this game and at least deal with it. Let’s get into it as we answer the doubters with Is Left Alive Worth Playing Now?
Is Left Alive Worth Playing Now? the Pros:
- The game works on the PlayStation 5.
- There is a solid idea, 3 characters with a story that mixes them all in.
- Has a heavy crafting mechanic.
- Cool gadgets like enemy sensors, remote-controlled explosive cans, grenades, etc.
- Massive huge Mechs where you can fight in them, destroy the city and pick up and equip up to 4 weapons at once.
- You can skip the cutscenes and dialogue.
- Multiple-choice encounters enable you to replay levels and see different outcomes.
- The areas are quite big and allow a lot of exploration.
Is Left Alive Worth Playing Now? the Cons:
- Stealth is broken, you can stand in front of someone and they won’t see you, you can also be ten miles away and they will see you.
- Headshots sometimes don’t register as in they show they hit but no damage is dealt.
- Bad checkpointing means a lot of cutscenes and interactions get replayed over and over.
- Ammo distribution is all over the place.
- Bad mission markers.
- Mechs are powerful o get it but they are cheese as fuck when fighting you and dealing massive damage.
- Getting revived is all kinds of broken, you can move slowly when down but you have no idea how far you can move let me tell you it’s not far enough.
- Looks bad on ps5 to the point where you get a warning at the start that says this game may not perform well.
- Rough textures and that’s even if they decide to load in.
- The stick to the wall doesn’t work a lot and nearly always results in you rolling into combat.
- Can’t record any cutscenes and it pops the message up constantly. This is more a Playstation 5 issue but you cannot turn this fucking notification off and it’s on every cutscene (and there is a lot of them).
- The Ai is proper shit from how they move to the way they run away from you when in combat, they can also just straight up run into you.
- Landed up just running past enemies and Mechs.
- The enemy knows exactly where you are the moment you get noticed.
- The final boss is really badly done.
- The pace is a mess with levels taking minutes or hours because honestly, you need to take breaks just to restore your sanity.

I honestly think I am being nice about this because man oh man this game is bad. Don’t think it’s just a graphics or performance thing, it’s the combat the crafting, the missions, and the Mechs! They managed to mess up mech fights! As a mech, you can move some cars but then some you cannot, you cannot shoot and blow up buildings or blockades, I just don’t understand how or why you bother adding Mechs if you can’t even Mech.
Is Left Alive Worth Playing Now? FUCK No it isn’t! The game was bad then and it’s bad now, it’s a game that no one should play, it’s a game that tried to be a Metal Gear but it didn’t work, it tried to do Mechs and fucked it right up. I do wish this game on my worst enemy but that’s just me! If you ever think of playing the game then do one of these things –
- Buy it really cheap, preferably free.
- Seek therapy.
- The wonder of gaming is something you want to continue with.
- Get drunk.
- Watch a YouTube playthrough.
- Buy multiple controllers because they are like magnets to the wall.
There you have it, it is pretty clear that Left Alive Is NOT worth playing in 2022 or any other year. Yes, I could have answered this question with a simple yes or no but it’s not good for SEO so welcome to a long-form answer.
Just in case, You can buy Left Alive on Steam right now.
