  • Steering wheel support.
  • Driving gameplay.
  • Manga comic book cutscenes.
  • Full 3D game world.
  • The combo counter comes up as you do drifts.
  • The drifting controls are good, not too sensitive, and not too tight.
  • Living world with other AI drivers on the road.
  • The map lets you set your destination and then draws the route on your mini-map.
  • The mini-map is on your phone screen in the bottom corner.
  • Thumpy base soundtrack.
  • Familiar controls for a racing/drifting game.
  • Has potential.
  • It’s a fantastic world to explore and drift around.
  • This is the prologue before the full game comes out.

JDM Rise of the Scorpion Review Cons:

  • No Steam achievements.
  • Not all the menus work with the controller or they don’t work well enough.
  • The mouse cursor stays on the screen even when using the controller.
  • A couple of graphics settings are just greyed out and if you try to change graphics preset it will warn you if you don’t meet the benchmark for specs.
  • As it’s a Prologue for the main game it displays everything as if it were the main game but greys and padlocks them out.
  • The mini-map on the phone is zoomed right in and is hard to read.
  • I couldn’t set a route anywhere it had to be a point of interest or mission.
  • The camera sways around a lot and did make me feel a bit sick. (I am sensitive to this kind of movement)
  • The button prompts in the game are keyboard only despite it being a controller in the menus and map.
  • The Ai is crap driver and will just drive into you regardless and cause pile-ups.
  • The performance is not great and even though we are using an i7 RTX chip I can’t get it to run well at all.
  • Overall the graphics look smeary and not clear.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
