Kunitsu Gami Path Of Goddess Review (PlayStation 5)
Kunitsu Gami Path Of Goddess Review is a unique Japanese-inspired, single-player Kagura Action Strategy game. The game takes place on a mountain covered by defilement. During the day, purify the villages and prepare yourself for sundown. During the night, protect the Maiden against the hordes of the Seethe. Repeat the day and night cycle until you cleanse the mountain of defilement and return peace to the land. The Seethe emerge from the Torii Gates to the other world when the sun sets. This enemy, which has a variety of different abilities, attacks at night under the cover of darkness, targeting the Maiden. The director’s ideas and attention to detail have been packed into the design that presents the setting of this game.

- Locations along the way will have a set amount of defiled elements, cleanse them all for a bonus reward. (you get a progress counter)
- It’s surprisingly easy to move and place your villagers.
- Yoshiro will move along the path on her own but you can give commands, she is the one who purifies the Torii gates.
- Another mechanic is Yoshiro will turn blue to indicate she will purify the Torii gate before nightfall and when she’s white it means she either hasn’t reached the gate yet or won’t get it done by nightfall.

- Plants that drip crystals do grow back over time.
- Locations may have particulate elements you need to act upon like dark caves and caverns where you have to light lanterns so your villagers can see them.
Kunitsu Gami Path Of Goddess Review Cons:
- A lot to take in.
- The combat is fast and fluid but it does take some getting used to it for it to be good.
- You can only save in between stages, you have autosave but you are never sure when or what it has saved.
- The camera is not always ideal in tight spaces or boss fights as it’s harder to see what’s going on.
- Can be a nightmare to remember all the buttons and menu shortcuts.
- The music can be too chilled and repetitive.
- They didn’t make it clear that each camp has its own group of helpers and you can then have multiple builds going on at one time.
- You cannot skip some of the dancing and cleansing cutscenes, they are always the same.
- Torii gate encounters take a while to get going, late game it gets better but the first few hours it’s a case of waiting for them to spawn.
- Chasing down animals is a pain especially when they can just disappear.
- It’s hard to always find the defiled points on the map.
- No camera reset button.
- When in combat there is no way to save a placement template so after an all-out attack or defend command you have to do it all again.
