Lucky Tower Ultimate Preview (Steam Early Access)
Lucky Tower Ultimate Review, Escape from a dangerous tower where everything can be a weapon. Lucky Tower Ultimate is a slapstick, roguelike adventure that looks like a cartoon and feels like a joke. Slashy slashy!
Lucky Tower Ultimate Preview Pros:
- Awesome cartoon graphics.
- 729.68MB download size.
- Steam achievements.
- Graphics settings – resolution, zoom, brightness slider, and screenshake intensity.
- Full controller support.
- The game can be played with a keyboard only, a mouse and keyboard, or a controller.
- You can remap the controls for both the keyboard and the controller.
- Subtitles – on/off.
- 3 save slots.
- Optional tutorial level.
- The whole game has a cool border around the screen.
- Excellent voice work.
- Items that can be picked up have an equip or grab option each time.
- 2D action-platformer gameplay.
- It’s a game full of humor.
- When defeated or broken you can pick up and shake them for possible loot drops.
- Items on the floor will briefly lift off to indicate which one you would pick up.
- You have 3 voice lines you can say with the D-pad.
- Weapons can be anything from actual weapons to items and corpses, you can hold two at any time and swap between them.
- Aside from hitting people, you can also throw corpses and items around.
- It’s a game where choosing doors and trying to get up the tower is the name of the game.
- Every run gets randomized.
- Collect coin purses so you can carry coins.
- Spend coins in vending machines for random items or loot.
- Turn into monsters.
- I like how each room can have its own unique set piece.
- Some very clever scenarios.
- Collect and wear new outfits, and hats.
- Many multiple choice encounters.
- At times you leave the tower and climb up and down the side of the tower instead.
- As you progress you get into new sectors with all new enemies.
- Some fantastic memorable moments.
- You have a run counter.
- Really does look and feel like a cartoon with fantastic animations and voice work.
Lucky Tower Ultimate Preview Cons:
- You can’t change any graphic settings until in the game.
- There is no health bar so you never know how close to death you are.
- A real pain to deal with picking up coins in particular but when there is a load of items in one place it’s not fun trying to go through it all.
- For me, it’s a game that has many great ideas but they don’t seem to always gel together into one solid experience.
- The controls can be very clunky at first.
- Being run based it does conjure up some great off-the-bat runs and some real stinkers.
- There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of permanent unlocks or carrots on a stick going on.
