  • A love letter to games like Desert Strike.
  • Opening tutorial mission.
  • Twin stick shooting controls, you have an air and ground shot type.
  • The map uncovers as you move around but taking over reptoid buildings will uncover the whole map.
  • A lot of fun to play.
  • You can pick up ammo, cash, and shields with your crane.
  • The aiming reticule helps with shooting.
  • You can blow up buildings, and cars, shoot down trees, blow up barrels, and smash boxes.
  • The game moves at a good speed.
  • The operator shop in your hub lets you buy upgrades for your helicopter.
  • Loadout lets you change what guns and rockets you go out with.
  • In between missions, you have a hub where you can do your shopping and load-outs, etc.
  • You can replay completed levels.
  • End of mission breakdown showing enemies killed and time taken.
  • Fast loading times.
  • Excellent soundtrack.
  • Many enemy types.
  • Kill enemies by blowing up barrels.
  • After dying you can select optional Goddess blessings – +300 max armour or refill ammo. You get more and different options depending on the mission type.
  • As you kill the enemy and take over buildings their alert level goes up which spawns reinforcements and can lead to bigger stronger enemies.
  • Guns reload automatically but you can manually reload.
  • After completing your mission the level doesn’t end until you get back on your helipad so you are free to roam around and get any missed enemies and collectibles.
  •  Unlock and equip special abilities for your helicopter.
  • Wave-based level structure events.
  • Good story.

Megacopter Review Cons:

  • No voice work.
  • Can be really hard to get the reticule to line up properly as it’s quite cumbersome and slow.
  • You take damage when stuck in the animation for picking up items and it’s a long animation when you are in the thick of it.
  • Slight hitches and slowdown in places.
  • Hard to see enemies sometimes due to color clashes and buildings but hiding in trees is the biggest pet peeve.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
