Modern Warfare 2 Review Pros:

  • Incredible graphics.
  • 113.8GB download size with a 22.5GB reserved space requirement.
  • 1000 Gamerscore.
  • First-person shooter gameplay.
  • Tutorial pop-ups for all the menus.
  • The new menu system going for a Netflix/Amazon style with big boxes and swipes.
  • Much faster loading times.
  • Controller settings – supports a mouse for aiming, 15 button layouts including custom, flip bumpers, stick layout presets, Invert axis, and sensitivity sliders for everything from mounted turrets to guns to ads and vehicles.
  • Set up a quick settings menu.
  • Graphics settings – on-demand texture streaming, world motion blur, weapon motion blur, film grain slider, depth of field, fidelity CAS, fidelity CAS strength slider, a field of view slider for both first and third-person views, and set the safe area of the screen.
  • 17 missions in the campaign.
  • Mission and difficulty selection.
  • The cooperative mode has three missions each with a three-star ranking for performance.
  • Your perks in multiplayer are awarded over time in the game instead of always on.
  • The campaign story is a really good action flick that is predictable but still a blast.
  • The story takes in many types of set pieces from the sniper, and vehicle driving to nighttime and breakouts.
  • As you finish missions in the campaign, you unlock banners, XP boosters, and weapons for multiplayer.
  • No multiplayer achievements.
  • Powerful hard-hitting soundtrack and sound effects.

Modern Warfare 2 Review Cons:

  • No hardcore playlists.
  • Parts of the campaign are drawn out way too long and feel like needless filler.
  • Your choices in the campaign have no effect on the story or anything else.
  • Weird bug where I can’t change the showcase features.
  • No multiplayer achievements.
  • Respawn points continue to be hit-and-miss.
  • Only a few Co-op missions.
  • It felt like the music was missing in key set pieces.
  • Doesn’t have full clan support, just your tag which can be anything and copied.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
