Nearly Dead – Live and Let Die Preview (Steam Early Access)
For this Nearly Dead – Live and Let Die Preview, we play a top-down hack-and-slash game in which players face off against the enemy hordes, combining a variety of active skills with dozens of traits and some 300 types of randomly acquired items. Protect yourselves against menacing enemies by exploring and growing with teammates, freely wielding never-before-seen weapons with a variety of patterns.

- Decent graphics.
- 982.52MB download size.
- Graphics settings – resolution, and screen mode.
- Can rebind controls.
- Three difficulties.
- Game mode modifiers – items spawn twice but half inventory space, enemy health half but hid twice as hard, food HP decreases 50 percent and HP recovery is 200 percent, enemy movement speed, and infection does more damage.
- Action shooter gameplay.
- Nine characters with five initially unlocked, each have unique buffs and weapons.
- A new run/character has you choose from a selection of traits like movement speed, more health, etc.
- Zombie survival in that by day you do crafting and exploration and at night you fight zombies when in your central hub/base.
- The character sheet shows your stats.
- Central crafting table, dissemble station, and a crafting station.
- Zombies can drop resources and materials.
- Controls show on the pause screen.
- In the exploration stage, you pick from a selection of choices.
- You can search boxes, shelves, etc within a location.
- Have up to three weapons equipped.
- Full drag-and-drop inventory management.
- Movement is with the keyboard and aiming is with the mouse.
- On-screen button prompts.
- You can see the enemy health bars.
- Collect blueprints to enable crafting.
- When exploring zombies will be everywhere.
- An end-of-game breakdown showing how many in-game days you survived, how many enemies killed, and how much gold you earned.
- Uses gold to buy new clothing options.
- The wardrobe lets you customize your character.
- The camera can be zoomed in and out.
- Roguelike loop.
- A weapons upgrade tree allows you to spend gold on unlocking starting weapons for future runs.
Nearly Dead – Live and Let Die Preview Cons:
- No Steam achievements. It’s a preview build but just use this as a FYI.
- Really small menu pop-ups and text.
- Doesn’t support the controller.
- Cannot rebind controls once you are in the game.
- Offers no tutorial or help.
- Slow movement speed.
- Zombies only attack when you are near them otherwise they just stand still.
- Small in-game text for interactions.
- The loop of gold for clothes and guns is not that appealing as the weapons can be found and you never really care what you look like.
- Slow pace to it all and the gold earning is borderline on the grinding scale.
- The area is not that big so the screen is just full of black dead space everywhere.
- Having to manually pick up everything is a chore.
- Gets very repetitive with little in the way of variation.
