We take on the classic horror creatures in our Omen of Sorrow Review, It is a classic 2D, four-button fighting game, with Unreal Engine 4-powered graphics, a cast of characters inspired by classic horror, fantasy, and mythology, and a battle system designed from the ground up to leverage player skill, rather than stats or random chance, featuring deep combat mechanics that favor movement and spacing over tight execution to provide an engaging experience for pros and newcomers alike!

  • Nice graphics.
  • 3.8GB Download size.
  • 1000 Gamerscore.
  • Three modes- Battle, Practice, and online.
  • Decent cutscenes.
  • 2D fighter gameplay with 3D backdrops.
  • Controls- Two presets or custom rebind.
  • Five difficulties- Very easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, and very hard.
  • Gallery- View unlocked videos and artwork.
  • Online- Quickplay, Ranked, Lobby creates, and lobby searches.
  • Practice- Quick guide or training against an AI dummy.
  • Battle- Story mode, Local VS, and survival.
  • Story- One main story then you unlock an additional two.
  • 11 characters from classic horror films like Vampires, Werewolves, etc, and a couple of bespoke characters, Each one plays completely different and has a unique special move once your meter fills up from taking damage.
  • Combo counter.
  • Some really good level backdrops.
  • A simple four-button control scheme allowing anyone to just jump in.
  • The player card you can customize with unlocked titles and icons.

Omen Of Sorrow Review Cons:

  • Long frequent load times.
  • Learning the moves of characters is a long process and doesn’t use some of the memorable movesets.
  • Storytelling in the story is just slow and pressing a button.
  • Hard game crash a few times.
  • Forgettable story.
  • Cutscenes look better than the game a lot of the time.
  • Hot detection doesn’t always feel great.
  • No voice work in-game for storytelling.
  • Animation issues.
  • Some characters are not fun to play as.
