Summary

Never being a huge fighting game player I always worry a game will alienate me with complex movesets and fiddly mechanics. In Phantom Breaker Omnia this is not the case, I see it as if a game lets me button mash, pull off sick combos, feel good and legitimately have me possibly winning then it’s a good game! That is exactly what we have here, you can make Phantom Breaker Omnia as deep or as casual as you like with the three style choices as these change your stats and how you play. Even if you mess it up you can still mash your way through. The story mode is a weird goose as it has you doing particular things for it to advance the story, you can fight but you won’t actually advance the story. The fighting is fast frantic and a visual treat, the game has the fighting absolutely nailed down. The game modes are vast and provide you with the tools needed to get better or brush up. We tried out as many modes as we could and even in local play the game held up, using joy-con controllers is less than ideal but that is a personal thing. The takeaway here is Phantom Breaker Omnia is an absolute banger of a fighting game and provides everything a fighting game fan would need.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
