Review: Croc’s World 2 (Nintendo Switch)

After millions of downloads of the first part of “Croc’s World,” it´s time for “Croc’s World 2”! “Croc´s World 2” is a really nice jump’n’run with 60 incredible levels and many challenging enemies!

Pros:

  • Bright cartoon graphics.
  • 378mb download size.
  • Platformer gameplay.
  • 60 levels across two worlds.
  • Instructions (tutorial).
  • Levels give a 1-3 star rank.
  • Pick up upgrades in game-helmet (can break blocks), shoes (can run faster) and rocks (shoot enemies).
  • Rocks home in on enemies.
  • Boss battles.
  • Checkpoints.
  • Takes inspiration from the Super Mario games.
  • Gems-collect all gems in a level to get a star.
  • Quick restarts.
  • 3 lives then game over and level restart.
  • A timer on all levels when it hits zero, you die.
  • Simple 2 button controls.
  • Friendly approach to platformers.

Cons:

  • No touchscreen.
  • Little variation within the levels.
  • Stars don’t really mean much.
  • No replayability.
  • Few hit detection issues mostly with the boss battles.
  • Only one control scheme.
  • Power-ups are scarce.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
