Pros:

  • Graphics are stunning, the attention to detail is just astonishing. The cars the tracks it all comes together.
  • Sound is no slouch either, The engine noises are realistic and set the tone. Best played with surround sound or headphones.
  • Supports controller,Keyboard and steering wheel.
  • Graphic options: Resolution, Refresh rate, V-Sync, AA, Anisotropic filtering.
  • Advanced Graphic options: Detail preset-ultra low,low,medium,high and ultra.Custom allows you tweak individual settings.
  • Well optimized.
  • Camera options: FOV, Offset,Angle and shake.
  • Benchmark test. Can even set the weather type.
  • Controls preset. Two for each the controller and keyboard.
  • Rebind able keys for controller and keyboard.
  • Full steering wheel setting page complete with sliders.
  • Steam achievements.
  • Steam trading cards.
  • Fast loading times. Race loading times are hidden behind the race settings. Basically the game loads as you set the conditions etc.
  • Seven difficulties:Very easy to ultimate.
  • Handful of driving views.
  • Flashbacks, Ability to rewind time.
  • Dynamic weather.
  • Driver animations: See your driver shake his hands at a crash or collision, Waves when you win or get pole.
  • Game modes: Career, Championship season, Quick race, Multiplayer and time trial.
  • Career mode is so in depth. You can do the technical tests for car setup, Change car setup, Do flying laps,qualifying,Practice. You have a central hub where you do team upgrades and meet team members.You use a laptop to view stats, objectives and upgrade your team. You create a driver,Pick an avatar, helmet, colour complete with slider for your own colour creation.Set your race number and name. Then pick a team to race for and pick a second driver.
  • When doing technical test or practice laps, You can use the race director and watch live feeds of other drivers racing or, Look at graphs and bars showing your performance.
  • Career length can be set to short, full or custom.
  • Resource points can be earned and spent on upgrading your team.
  • Full tutorial section split into areas like corners, Tyre choice etc.
  • Tight responsive handling model.
  • Assists: You have full control on what assists you want on or off or sliders offer greater customization.
  • The game teaches you how to drive better even if you don’t realize it, You quickly pick up on sector training and how to take corners, where to push it etc.
  • Full TV presentation, Fly over of the track, Commentators talking and building the hype.
  • On board computer allows you to talk with your team as you drive. You can get advice or current positions etc. You can also setup what to do in pits or change the petrol style, Brake bias all on the fly.
  • Fully licensed including all the drivers and locations from the 2016 season.
  • Multiplayer: Custom-join or host, Matchmaking-Rookie, Sprint, endurance or multiplayer championship.
  • Multiplayer championship: Tweak everything from assists that are allowed, If cars are realistic or all the same performance, Add AI drivers, Invite friends, Set race conditions and season length and criteria like practice,qualifying.
  • Fantastic atmosphere from the drivers seat, The sense of speed is just brilliant.

Cons:

  • Still need the keyboard for name entry if using a controller.
  • Character models look a bit like weird zombies. More the avatar pics than in game.
  • Doesn’t have an audible name library which is kind of a disconnect when the commentator is giving out results,Positions.
  • Career can be seen as very stop start with a lot of filler in between.
  • Lot of buzzwords and acronyms chucked at you.
  • Cringe worthy interaction cut scenes.
  • Replay camera angles are limited.
  • Locations feel baron especially the in land destinations, Just nothing going on past the grandstand.
  • No save replay option.
  • No in game screenshot feature.
