Review: Human Resource Machine (Nintendo Switch)

Be a good employee! The machines are coming… for your job.

Pros:

  • Cartoon graphics much in the same style as World of Goo.
  • 99.6MB Download size.
  • Three save slots.
  • Full touchscreen controls.
  • In game tutorials and pop ups.
  • Four avatars for you to choose from to represent you in game.
  • Cutesy animations.
  • Game play evolves around you performing tasks for you boss by putting a list of commands in order. This is done by taking a command (box) from one conveyor belt and putting it on the other. Now these have to be put in the right order or it all falls apart.
  • You can fast forward time or go back one step at a time or flat out reset the game.
  • Its a difficult game make no bones about it.
  • You can ask in game for hints and tips if you get stuck.
  • The game actually serves as a good tool for budding developers and coders, For this I mean I teaches you how to think like a coder, How to order commands and why you need A to work with B to make C.
  • Very clever game.
  • An excellent time waster, I say time waster as you will waste time messing up puzzles over and over but.
  • Near instant loading times.

Cons:

  • Commands do soon level out and for that it starts to feel a bit of a letdown when no new commands start coming in.
  • The game is a lie and you are actually learning the basics of coding, Maths and how to problem solve!
  • You may never see the end of the game.
  • Coders may well finish the game rather quickly without to much hassle.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
