Cons:

  • Cannot put your own name in.
  • No V-Sync option.
  • Cheesy voice acting.
  • Can get stuck in scenery, Quests don’t end and get stuck in a loop regularly.
  • Menu is awkward with some menu options not working with the pad.
  • Building LEGO blocks is fiddly and very hit and miss. Its all done really slowly so a fast build skill can be implemented.
  • Scenery not as destructible as you come to expect in LEGO games.
  • Can get stuck on loading screens.
  • No notification of completing minifigure sets.
  • Cant skip FMV.
  • Repetitive gameplay.
  • Grouping up with friends is awkward and fiddly.
  • No emotes or in game chat options.

In Summary, LEGO minigigures is actually a fun relaxing game. I mean it is very much a hack and slash on loop with little deviation but it does it very well. I want to hate it but its so playable and bright and colourful. I love discovering new worlds and running around play sets.  They have done a good thing by making this a one off payment. No worlds are behind a paywall, Gone are long wait times to retry quests. Everything you see is everything you can unlock through play. In short the game surprised me and I still want to hate it as its no where near as feature heavy as other LEGO games but god dammit its playable and fun!

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
