Review: Numantia (PlayStation 4)
Numantia is a Turn-Based Strategy game that takes place in the ancient conflict between Rome and the city of Numantia, in a war that lasted for more than two decades.
Pros:
- Decent graphics.
- Platinum trophy.
- 5.50GB Download size.
- Two modes- Campaign and arena.
- Two armies to play in the campaign.
- Activate or deactivate the tutorial.
- Normal and hard difficulties.
- Decent voice work.
- Nice art cutscenes.
- Each army has a campaign and a base camp map. The campaign is the story and base camp is your hub to manage your army like hiring and firing troops, Upgrading and buying new items.
- Each chapter has stages with multiple choices at the end. Works in a choose your own path.
- Earn cash and resources in battle.
- Auto and manual saves.
- Plays like a simplified tactical wargame like Total war.
- The battleground is made of hexes. Makes it easier to plan your strategy.
- Easy to pick up thanks to clear UI and decent paced gameplay.
- 2 actions for each unit in your army. You can move and attack.
- Can finish your round when you want.
- Unit types- foot, ranged and mounted.
- Large locations map. You can move around the campaign map and check out all the gorgeous areas.
- Controls seem to be very well done especially in the genre.
- A lot of game for your money.
- Camera- Pan around and zoom in.
- Atmospheric soundtrack.
- Fun but challenging.
- The arena is your arcade mode. Pick a side, a map and has the easy difficulty.
- Locations are varied and include snow, night and day.
- Solid mechanics.
- Great to watch the fights.
- Morale- Important as you can push your men to travel further, Fight harder which will reduce their morale which will ultimately make them worse fighters.
Cons:
- Long initial boot upload.
- Army choice is not clearly marked or described until you click through.
- Small text.
- Tutorial is really slow going.
- Swapping units quickly are very clunky.
- Only one controller layout.
- No online or local competititve.
- A lot of menu clicking.
