Review: Senran Kagura Bon Apetit

Senran Kagura Bon Apetit (4)

Bon Apetit brings you back into the crazy wonderful Senran Kagura universe only things are a little different, this time Master Hanzo masterfully managed to set up a cooking competition to win the ultimate prize….A Ninja Scroll that grants the winner 1 wish!!

Rather than fighting on the battle field you’re treated to a Rhythm game to test your cooking skills, the more notes you HIT the bigger the STRIP……dish you cook up for Master Hanzo’s delight!

Cons

  • No physical version for those collectors out there
  • Very tough learning curve from easy to normal
  • The power circle and note bars take up quite a bit of room on screen so the cinematic’s suffer
  • The camera angle when checking out the girls is not WIDE enough…..O_O
  • Some might find the sexual innuendos too much to HANDLE.
  • The character stories can seem very out there for those new to the series or rhythm game enthusiasts
  • Can become repetitive due to their only being 10 songs with the amount of character stories to go through.

Closing Comments

Senran Kagura Bon Apetit is superb fun entry into the Senran series; it combines the quirky out there nature of the series, fun Japanese music within a SOLID rhythm game, if you’re a fan of the series like me then this game is a must or if you’re a fan of Rhythm games also like me then I highly recommend it as LONG as you’re not easily offended!! With DLC already announced adding more tracks and customisable options for those Senran fans it’s a wonderful addition to the Vita library just a shame there is no physical release for those collectors out there!

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
