Super Toy Cars is a tabletop arcade combat racing game featuring fast and cool looking cars, impressive tracks made of everyday objects and a bunch of power-ups that will let you destroy your opposition.

Super Toy Cars (2)

Pros:

  • Graphics look great with a lot of work gone into making the reflections as real as possible. Levels have a lot more detail to them than the previous game.
  • Optional Tutorial section.
  • Gameplay is a mix between Micro Machines and Mario Kart.
  • Trophy support.
  • Full stats section.
  • Career boasts 8 championships with each one holding a handful of events. You earn points in each race which are then used to unlock further races and championships.
  • Quick match allows you to pick any track then difficulty options easy, Medium and Hard actually change the track further. You can also choose what type of event you want to do as well. So you can either race, elimination, evade or time trial. Another cool thing is all cars are available regardless if you own them.
  • Controls are simple to use.
  • 1-4 local play support.
  • Online leaderboard support.
  • Mini map.
  • Can look around and behind .
  • Can re play races.
  • 16 cars to unlock and buy. Each one has different bases stats but can be improved with upgrades.
  • Big selection of power ups.
  • Handling is very arcadey.
  • Turbo bar fills up as you play.
  • Collect coins in game to buy upgrades\new cars.
  • Jumps and drifts will build your boost bar.
  • Replay function.
  • Brilliant levels and weather effects . Go from toy boxes in bedrooms to outside racing at night. Rain looks good.
  • Drift mechanic. You can opt for a handbrake then slide it round or you can hold the button down to drift. Either way builds up your turbo meter.
  • Good sfx
  • Unlock new paints\items as you play.
  • Championships have different race types like time trial, racing, elimination.
  • Shortcuts to find and use.
  • Fast loading between races.
  • Auto respawn for crashes. Or you can set it to a button press.
  • Upgrade choices are good with Turbo, tires, brakes, weight reduction in there. It has a wealth of options most would be seeing a Gran Turismo or Rally game.
  • Gameplay is better with upgraded cars. The game performs so much better with speed and more aggressive AI.
  • Camera can be changed from bumper to far away to your traditional Micro Machine style top down view.

Cons:

  • Playing feels a bit shaky and suffers from tearing and slowdown.
  • Indie rock style ost which may not be to everyone’s taste.
  • Can’t fire behind you.
  • Controls can feel a bit floaty.
  • Loading screens do not show the car model, Just a blacked out silhouette.
  • No online racing.
  • easy to get stuck to AI racers. and you will always come out of it sideways or spun around. Its really unfair.
  • Hitting the wall even slightly will cause you to spin out or auto re spawn.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
