Review: Tiny Troopers Joint Ops
While this game isn’t new to some it was new to me, it’s a port of Tiny troopers 1 and 2 that had over 11 million downloads on smartphones, but made to take advantage of PlayStation. Tiny intense arcade action shooter.
Pros
- Reminds me of cannon fodder and this is a good thing
- Cut scenes are fun with full voice acting
- Nice customization touches like being able to shoot faster, move faster, take more damage, even camo outfits for the current nations to gain round bonus.
- Simple controls left stick to move and right stick to shoot, which makes the game very accessible straight from the get go
- 30 Mission 29 spec ops and numerous zombie missions where there’s plenty to keep you entertained.
- If you’re like me and love collecting things there are dog tags and medals scattered in each level to find for more points
- Cross buy PS3/Vita
- Cross save so you can never miss a mission!
- The levels are short so suit quick burst plays on commutes or when you have a spare 5 minutes, or if you’re on PS3 for that advert moment on programs!!!
- Cheap price point.
- Loading screens contain hints and tips for the game.
Cons
- No platinum trophy for those collectors out there
- Touch controls for extra weapons like grenades or rocket launchers can be awkward to use at times when battles become intense
- The occasional character got stuck which meant more often than not you would loose them in battle !!!!
- The story missions missed some background music for that little extra touch when exploring the larger levels but that’s just my personal opinion
- Sometimes there was a bit of level glitching where your characters would stop then skip along slightly
- While there are a variation of mission, eliminate, survive, protect and escape there isn’t much variation within the levels and can become repetitive
Closing Comments
While the game does have a few nuisances like glitches and characters randomly getting stuck it doesn’t deteriorate from the games fun nature, it’s easy to pick up and play and is great for those that have time constraints, more so for vita users. While the game is short based missions there are replay values in the game by going back through levels to get the collectables or to take on the superbly fun zombie survival mode.
