Review: UNO (PS4)
UNO the classic card game hits PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Boasting online and offline play, The game also features a single player and full leaderboard support. The runaway hit on last gen consoles finally hits current gem.
Pros:
- Bright cheerful graphics and colour palette.
- 3.071GB download size.
- Tutorial section.
- Single player mode: Face off against 3 AI players. You can change the game settings.
- 2v2 local or online play. You can see each others cards and face off against 2 AI players.
- Match options: Stacking, 7-0, Jump in, Force play, No bluffing, Draw to match and score limit.
- Rabbids theme deck with special new power cards like distribute 5 cards to random players. It changes the environment with a Rabbid dealing the cards out and comes complete with Rabbids voice work.
- 13 trophies to unlock.
- Supports video and voice chat.
- Unlock earn Ubisoft club rewards/credits.
- Player card: Shows off your stats for online and offline, Medals earned and your completion percentage in the 3 medal categories.
- Medals: Basically quests, You do one to unlock exp which levels you up and if you finish enough you unlock the next set, There are three sets with loads of quests within each of them.
- Quick button to bring up your friends list for invites.
- Full leader board support.
- Online: Classic match with host or join room options including game options. 2v2 again with host or join options with game settings.
- Easy to learn with a great pick up and play feel.
- Excellent way to learn the game of UNO.
- Endless replay-ability and the medals mean you always have a challenge or something to work towards.
- Clear UI with great easy to understand on screen direction.
- Fast gameplay with the AI.
- Best example of an UNO game for some time.
- Male or female voice over.
- Simple control scheme.
Cons:
- Co-op player in offline doesn’t earn trophies.
- Challenging UNO goes so fast you struggle to hit it.
- Points awarded at the game end seems random with no real logic behind it.
- Same game environment, Rabbids one adds a few characters but its still just a stale bland screen.
- Jazz music may grate after a while.
- Vibrate is not on as standard!
- AI can be cheap and always has the right card at the right time.
- No difficulty options in any game mode.
- Cannot do pass the pad/hotseat.
