- The game is very much like a tug-of-war match. You have crystals growing in front of your base, you buy miners to get crystals from them which you then use to summon troops. All this time the enemy is doing the same and it’s a case of picking the right troops to protect your captain as when he dies it’s game over or if you kill the enemy’s captain you win.
- Each match will have a unit cap that determines how many summons you can do.
- A special attack in the form of a ballista regents and does a load of damage, you can set what time of elemental damage it does.
- You can buy items from the store in between matches to add buffs.
- Upgrade summons and the ballista.
- End of battle breakdown.
- You have a deck of summons that you can edit during battles and this determines who you summon.
- All attacking and mining is automatic, you just select the summons and fire the ballista.
- Crystals regrow over time and your miners will go forward and take from the enemy if possible.

- No tutorial and you don’t get told about the manual.
- You cannot remap the controls.
- The music is not great.
- No voice work.
- Matches can go on for far too long.
- There is no feedback or indication of the ballista hit.

Summary
Rise Eterna War offers a mix of strategic gameplay with decent graphics and a manageable download size of 2.01GB. The game includes both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, each with its own in-game trophy list, and even offers a platinum trophy for dedicated players. The game settings allow for customization of screen flash, screenshake, and text speed, while controller settings include sliders for left stick sensitivity and screen pan speed. Players can utilize three save slots, and the game manual doubles as a tutorial, though this isn’t explicitly communicated to the player.
The gameplay revolves around a tug-of-war style match where players collect crystals to summon troops and protect their captain. The objective is to either defeat the enemy captain or prevent your own from being defeated. Each match has a unit cap for summons, and players can use a special ballista attack that regenerates and deals significant damage, with customizable elemental effects. Between matches, players can purchase items to add buffs, upgrade their summons and ballista, and edit their deck of summons to determine which units to deploy. All attacking and mining actions are automated, with players only needing to select summons and fire the ballista. Crystals regrow over time, and miners can advance to collect from the enemy if possible.
However, the game has its drawbacks. There is no tutorial to guide new players, and the manual’s existence isn’t clearly indicated. The controls cannot be remapped, and the music and lack of voice work leave much to be desired. Matches can drag on for too long, and there is no feedback or indication when the ballista hits its target. Additionally, the game is slow in providing gold, which is essential for upgrades, and there are no speed options for combat, which can make the gameplay feel sluggish.
In summary, Rise Eterna War presents an engaging strategy game with a variety of customization options and a unique tug-of-war gameplay mechanic. However, it falls short in areas such as tutorial guidance, control customization, and overall pacing, which may affect the overall enjoyment for some players.
