Summary

Rivenaar’s Grove is a game that boasts nice pixel art graphics and a manageable download size of 359.5MB. It offers a total of 1000 Gamerscore, making it an attractive option for achievement hunters. The gameplay revolves around puzzle mechanics, where players must clear all plants and trees by sliding tiles. The character only stops moving when hitting a wall or the sides, adding a layer of strategy to the game. As players progress, obstacles appear, increasing the difficulty. The game features three modes: classic, limited moves, and time restriction. A fast restart level menu option and the ability to replay levels from the level selection screen add to the game’s accessibility. However, hitting any obstacles results in an instant restart of the level.

The controls are simple, involving just movement, making the game accessible to a wide audience. It’s an easy game to achieve 1000 Gamerscore, but it lacks game settings beyond music and sound effects. Unfortunately, the game can become very repetitive, and the achievements are only available in classic mode. There is little replay value, as there is no scoring system or other incentives to return to completed levels. The music is not particularly great, and while the controls cannot be remapped, this is not a significant issue given their simplicity.

In summary, Rivenaar’s Grove offers a visually appealing and straightforward puzzle experience with easy achievements. However, its repetitive nature, lack of replay value, and limited settings may detract from its overall appeal.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
