  • Cannot rebind controls.
  • The volumes all seem out of whack at times like the voices being low one minute the too high the next.
  • Never sure when it’s saved or when it’s safe to turn the game off.
  • Would be cool if there was a quick way to replay certain sections so you can choose a different path.

Summary

Stray Gods is a musical RPG with an all-star voice cast and a stop-animation style. It features accessibility options such as subtitles, timed choices, and audio descriptions, as well as a night mode option. The gameplay includes multiple-choice encounters and the ability to choose traits for characters, which shapes the narrative. The game also features great singing performances and the ability to pause musical numbers. The map fills in as you progress, allowing you to choose where to travel. However, there are some issues with the volume levels and the inability to rebind controls. Additionally, it is not always clear when the game has been saved or when it is safe to turn it off. Despite these issues, the game has a ton of replay value thanks to the many routes you can take. It is a captivating and entertaining game that can be enjoyed on both handheld devices with headphones or on the big screen with friends. Overall the hardest challenge initially for me was being able to write anything without spoilering it as the game deserves its payoffs from you playing it. I also have to admit to myself that as I get older, Musical games may be a thing I like? Scary shit man but for now this game is awesome so small steps and all! What I am saying is don’t judge it instantly and instead sit down and give it an hour.
