Our Super Dungeon Maker Preview introduces us to a creative pixel art dungeon editor inspired by the best 2D adventure games. Choose however many levels, enemies, secret rooms, traps, and items you want. Challenge your friends and the community to master your dungeon or play the countless dungeons of the community.

Super Dungeon Maker Preview Pros:

Beautiful pixel art graphics.

Dungeon crawling and building gameplay.
Tutorial sections for building and playing.
Dungeon browser of other players’ creations, you can search, and see the newest uploads and the hottest dungeons as per their rating.
You can only upload dungeons you can finish/complete.
The Hen and Fam shop is where you build/create and save your dungeon creations.
The building is very straightforward and easy to do with all objects in groups and a simple place, undo and drag-n-drop system.
The village is like a hub where you can freely walk around, do dungeons, and create or play single-player content.
The playing of the game is very Zelda-like in its approach to dungeons.
Hearts are your health and you can get hearts back from smashing vases and cutting bushes.
You can pick up new weapons and abilities as you play.
So much content thanks to the already healthy selection of user-created dungeons.
You always start with a sword and shield.
Puzzle elements.
Very accessible.
Golden egg – collect this to end the level.
A lot of fun.
Some truly great levels.
The building is very fast so you can knock dungeons up in minutes.
Powerful dungeon creator.
They actually make all the dungeon creations look so easy it’s almost witchcraft.

Super Dungeon Maker Preview Cons:

Very limited single-player content and is there more or less to teach you the ropes.
Start up screen says it is still a work-in-progress game.
The tutorial is almost nonexistent.
The animations make picking up and throwing items a bit tedious.
No touchscreen support.
Cannot rebind controls.
The music isn’t great.

Summary

Super Dungeon Maker comes over to the Switch following a stint on Steam and all I can say is It’s a creation tool more than anything. Super Dungeon Maker gives you a load of tools at your disposal and wraps it up with simple easy-to-use controls. I cannot stress enough how easy it is to create not only dungeons but devious puzzle-infested deathtraps of dungeons. The devs have made a game that is so accessible and easy to manage that you will always have something to play. It takes the Zelda-style dungeon systems and presents them to you in a whole new way. Super Dungeon Maker surprised me in many ways, even playing the game is a joy because again it’s simple and gorgeous to look at. Yes, you have to rely on user content for the game to survive but already at this early stage, there is a healthy amount. Mark this one done because Super Dungeon Maker is redefining level-creation games.
