Super Engine GT Turbo Spec Review Pros:

  • Decent graphics.
  • 1.25GB download size.
  • 1000 Gamerscore.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere title.
  • Racing gameplay.
  • 12 cars to pick from.
  • Arcade racing game with simple, easy to learn controls.
  • Four series to race in – Novice, Junior, Senior, and Pro.
  • A Far back kinda on an angle camera view. The camera does a good job of following the action.
  • Each series has a completion percentage, and it goes by your overall finishing position, so for 100 percent, you need to come first in each race.
  • The series all have eight tracks.
  • You can replay the tracks.
  • The best position you have on a track is shown, and you need to get at least third in order to unlock the next track.
  • Very easy 1000 Gamerscore, they are all for just completing each series.
  • Fast loading times.
  • You do actually have three camera choices: the one I badly described earlier, a top-down one, and a more isometric affair.
  • Reset in the menu is to restart the race.
  • The handling is really tight and feels great when you nail corners.
  • I enjoyed grabbing the Platinum trophy so much that I did the game again on the PlayStation 4 version.
  • A mini map shows your opponents.

Super Engine GT Turbo Spec Review Cons:

  • You cannot tune or tweak any of the cars.
  • The Ai has a sticky butt problem meaning they can become stuck to you and move you around the place.
  • When. You finish a race, it just ends, and goes back to the main menu, you cannot just go through race by race.
  • The tracks start to feel the same.
  • No life to the game, it’s just racing against the same cars all the time.
  • There are no other game modes.
  • No leaderboard, it’s both local and online.
  • You don’t have any tutorials, but I mean all you would need is one to tell you what goes and what stops.
  • No replay value, as you will honestly only ever replay a race you didn’t qualify in, and that’s not common.
  • For some reason, you have two mini maps?
  • The music is generic and not that great, plus it all sounds the same.
  • There is no multiplayer.

Summary

Super Engine GT Turbo Spec – The Thrills and Highlights of Gameplay: Super Engine GT Turbo Spec delivers an arcade-style racing experience with tight controls and a satisfying drift system. Players can choose from 12 cars and compete across four racing series—Novice, Junior, Senior, and Pro—each featuring eight tracks. The game offers simple, easy-to-learn mechanics, ensuring accessibility for all players, with a responsive handling model that makes nailing corners feel incredibly smooth. Super Engine GT Turbo Spec – Where It Falls Short: Key Negatives: While the gameplay is enjoyable, the lack of variety becomes evident. With no ability to tune or tweak cars, limited track differentiation, and a missing multiplayer mode, the game lacks depth. AI opponents occasionally suffer from a “sticky” collision issue, and races abruptly end, sending players back to the main menu instead of flowing into the next event. Super Engine GT Turbo Spec – Immersive Story and Narrative Elements: Super Engine GT Turbo Spec is purely a racing experience with no story elements or career progression beyond the completion percentages of each series. There’s no sense of progression outside of achieving a full 100% completion by finishing first in every race. Super Engine GT Turbo Spec – Visual and Performance Aspects: Graphically, Super Engine GT Turbo Spec boasts decent visuals and fast loading times. The game provides three camera perspectives: a far-back angled view, a top-down perspective, and an isometric option. However, the tracks start to feel repetitive, and the music, while fitting, lacks variety, sounding largely the same throughout. Super Engine GT Turbo Spec – Overall Verdict: Is It Worth Playing? For trophy hunters, Super Engine GT Turbo Spec is an easy Platinum, especially since both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions are included, allowing for two potential Platinum trophies. However, for casual players seeking a long-term experience, the game’s limited modes, absence of multiplayer, and lack of replay value might make it a fleeting thrill rather than a lasting favorite. Back of the Box Quotes: “Super Engine GT Turbo Spec: A tight racing experience with limited variety. And left me wanting more!”
