Super Spy Raccoon Review (Nintendo Switch OLED)

Super Spy Raccoon Review, Super Spy Raccoon is an imagining of a stealth game as an early 80’s Arcade Classic! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to acquire all classified documents as you venture deeper and deeper into enemy territory. Hide, sneak, climb, and leap your way to victory! YOU MUST NOT BE SEEN! Do you have the skills to top score?

Super Spy Raccoon Review Pros:

  • Beautiful pixel art graphics.
  • 95.9MB download size.
  • Pure retro arcade atmosphere and presentation.
  • The main game screen has border art making it look like an old arcade machine.
  • Top-notch Chiptune soundtrack.
  • Screen settings – CRT filter, and bezel on/off.
  • Unlock and equip different suits.
  • Stealth ’em up platformer gameplay.
  • The goal of each level is to get the documents and escape without being spotted.
  • Stats for times caught and Intel documents are shown on the main screen.
  • Local leaderboards.
  • There is a time limit on each level.
  • Many ways to avoid being spotted from bushes to platforms.
  • It’s a game that you will suck at for a long time but it will soon become an addiction.
  • The gameplay is really tight.
  • Great character models and animations.
  • You can jump around to try and avoid detection.
  • Continues are in the game but using them does half your current score.

Super Spy Raccoon Review Cons:

  • No tutorial.
  • Doesn’t do a retro-inspired instruction manual which feels. Like a missed opportunity.
  • Didn’t see any online leaderboards.
  • It takes quite a while to get used to the game as the enemy is very good at spotting you.
  • The game doesn’t offer any accessibility options.
  • No Colourblind support.
  • I get why but it doesn’t have any state saves.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
