Summary
The Serpent Rogue is a game that is a lot of fun but it does require a lot of time, patience, and desire to succeed. What I liked the most about it was how I could just go around and explore the world whilst collecting and researching materials. The combat got better but the initial encounters were very plain with a hint of frustration. No the biggest enemy of the game is itself because you have so many mechanics at play but it doesn’t actually help guide you through either doing them or even knowing they exist in the first place. The Serpent Rogue is just a slow game which is fine because at the end of the day it is a crafting game with computer game elements mixed in like combat and exploration. I do like the game but it was a hard slog to get through, I dare say it would be easier to play on the Switch or other handheld as it’s a good fit for picking up and putting down the game. Having it all on the big screen does demand a bit more immediate action or at least things going on and Serpent Rogue is just too slow. Overall The Serpent Rogue is a game for people who love exploring and crafting with more emphasis on that and people management rather than all-out action.
