  • The Road to Independence game mode has three episodes and a fourth United States episode.
  • You can still edit and configure the game settings like difficulties etc in the Road to Independance mode.

  • Tooltips on all the menus and icons on your hud.

Summary

“Total War: Empire” for Android impresses with its console-quality graphics and extensive content, including all additional DLC unit packs and the “Road to Independence” mini-campaign. The game requires Android 12 or later and a hefty 11.02GB download size. It offers a rich strategy gameplay experience with full touchscreen support, landscape mode, and an awesome, impactful soundtrack. The impressive on-screen unit count and battery-saver option enhance the overall experience. Accessibility options like a dyslexia-friendly font and adjustable distortion effects make the game more inclusive.

The game features four battle and campaign difficulties, customizable game speed, and manual camera tilt options. The UI can be set to tablet or phone mode, with an auto-detect feature for convenience. Players can engage in four game modes: Grand Campaign, Play Battle, Road to Independence, and Battle tutorials. The Grand Campaign allows for extensive customization, including country selection, campaign length, difficulty settings, and more. Automatic city management and in-game cutscenes add depth to the gameplay. Each country in the Grand Campaign has unique objectives, and the game includes occasional tutorial pop-ups with images and videos.

“Total War: Empire” boasts a full 3D game world with zoom capabilities, descriptive tooltips, and streamlined controls. Players can make trade deals, invade or be invaded, and face multiple-choice encounters that shape the game world. The game offers near-infinite replay value, with features like save and load options, a three-finger swipe pause menu, and the ability to save and re-watch battle replays. The Play Battle mode allows for complete control over game options and battle types, while the two battle tutorial options provide guidance for land and sea warfare.

Despite its many strengths, the game has some drawbacks. It lacks Google Play Achievements and multiplayer options, making it a single-player experience only. The large download size and occasional slow loading times can be a hassle. Additionally, players must complete each episode in the Road to Independence mode to unlock the next one. However, the game’s extensive content, impressive graphics, and engaging gameplay make it a worthwhile investment for strategy game enthusiasts and once again shows why Feral Interactive is the team for mobile ports.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
