Viking Vengeance Review (Steam)



Our Viking Vengeance Review shows off this God-Worshiping Rogue-lite Dungeon Crawler ARPG set in a historical fiction world. You play as a Templar with pagan origins who rediscovers his roots and learns to wield the powers of the Norse Gods in his quest to change the destiny of his people and stop Ragnarok.

Viking Vengeance Review Pros:

  • Decent graphics.
  • 3.7GB Download size.
  • Steam achievements.
  • Graphics-Resolution, display, motion blur, camera shake, graphics preset (very low/low/medium/high/very high/ultra) and v-sync.
  • Can rebind controls.
  • 3 save slots. Good voicework.
  • Two characters to choose from-Raider or Ranger and each has unique weapons, ultimate, and main stats, you can rename them.
  • Fast loading times.
  • Tutorial video pop-ups.
  • Roguelike ARPG gameplay.
  • Fires-save points.
  • Lore will pop up and you can read it instantly or close it for later.
  • Earn EXP and level up to get new abilities.
  • Blood – enemies drop this when defeated and you use it to heal and as currency.
  • You have a handy collect-all button for loot.
  • Breakable objects.
  • Altars – spend blood to improve and unlock God’s powers.
  • God’s powers build with attacks and when using them will drop orbs to help recharge them again.
  • Has a pick up all button.
  • Big boss fights.
  • Valkyrie – you can pay with blood to instantly respawn as long as you have the blood.

Viking Vengeance Review Cons:

  • Only two characters at the moment.
  • No female characters.
  • Having the lore pop up as it does breaks immersion and is intrusive.
  • Doesn’t support the controller.
  • Only one control scheme which is everything in-game on the mouse including movement.
  • No lock-on for combat.
  • You have to manually click every attack.
  • Had a lot of occasions where loot would spawn out of a chest into an unclickable area of the map.
  • Small text.
  • Menu management especially gear is not particularly great.
  • Music is on loop.
  • Hard to see enemies.
  • Combat and movement are clunky.
  • Basic level design.
  • Pick up all button has a ridiculously small area of effect to it.
