West Hunt Review (Nintendo Switch OLED)
West Hunt Review, a 1-6 player social deduction game set in the Old West! Among the hardworking townsfolk hides an Outlaw or two causing mischief and mayhem across town. Luckily, there are eagle-eyed Sheriffs ready to sniff them out! No matter what role you play, you’re sure to have a hog-killin time!
West Hunt Review Pros:
- Decent graphics.
- 894MB download size.
- Online leaderboards.
- Full stats screen.
- Earn exp and level up to get new uniforms, characters, pets, and name tags.
- Two playable tutorials – one for sheriff and one for outlaw.
- A full 3D world with 360-degree camera control.
- Completing primary tasks raises the notoriety meter whereas doing secondary tasks lowers the meter.
- A timer is in play for the Outlaws where they need to complete tasks before it runs out, you can add time by doing primary tasks.
- Custom games let you create or join rooms.
- You can create rooms with bots.
- Creating a room requires a passcode and you can have spectators.
- Three ways to play – 1v1, 2v2, and 3V3.
- As an Outlaw, you have a list of objectives to complete and you need to act like a law-abiding citizen.
- When you play as a Sheriff you have to find the Outlaws and shoot them. You get helpful hints and can see when something has happened so it is not all guesswork.
- Interactive points are all over the map and act like a blending-in point and this is how you do the objectives.
West Hunt Review Cons:
- The menu system is a cursor and you use the right stick to move it which is slow and tedious.
- Only USA or Asia server choices.
- The camera is seperate from movement meaning you can mess up simple tasks easily.
- Gameplay is very slow and methodical and it just doesn’t flow nicely at all.
- Depending on when you play depends on how quickly you can get a game.
- The objectives are quite plain.
- As a Sheriff, it always ends up being guesswork.
- The performance in docked mode is very inconsistent with slowdown happening a fair bit.
- It’s only fun with friends as you can psyche each other out.
