Wings of Endless Review – A Flight Worth Taking?

Wings of Endless review – Step into a world where ancient wars whisper their secrets through pixelated landscapes. Wings of Endless invites players to uncover mysteries, battle fierce foes, and craft their own destiny in a beautifully designed action RPG.

Wings of Endless Review Pros

  • Decent graphics.
  • 359.15MB download size.
  • Steam achievements.
  • Graphics settings – retro mode. That’s it, you can have level 1, level 2, or turn it off.
  • Shake intensity setting.
  • 3 save slots.
  • Beautiful game world with animated backgrounds.
  • 2D action platformer gameplay.
  • Tutorial signs as you play.
  • Hack and slash combat, including air combat, where you stay on the spot and attack.
  • Earn experience from enemies and level up to improve your stats.
  • Collect materials and resources from the game world by killing enemies, finding pick-ups, and smashing pots.
  • Loadout spots for – weapon, armour, and two accessory slots. Each piece of gear has plus and minus stats with possible buffs.
  • Checkpoint altars are everywhere, and these will trigger a save point and heal you.
  • The game is split into screens, so you can go from one side of the screen to the next.
  • In-game cutscenes and character interactions.
  • A handy play timer in the pause screen.
  • I like how the pad rumbles as you jump around, it gives it that something a bit extra.
  • Owly is your Owl friend who follows you around.
  • Earn and use new powers as you go through the world.
  • You can ask for help on the save screen.
  • Find Golden feathers to use on one of three stat upgrades: Body, Spirit, and Mind.
  • A stamina bar is in play for attacks, jumping, and charging.
  • For a lot of the game, the platforming is a case of combining jumps, double jumps, and dashes to navigate them.
  • You can pause the game.
  • There is a hot air for your potions, so you can use them quickly, but they do have cool downs.
  • The game world is huge and very open; you can freely explore, and at times it has a Metroidvania feel as you need to get new powers and then revisit an area.
  • The game feels modern but is also deeply rooted in the retro arena.
  • Controls are tight and easy to use.
  • You get many materials and resources, which you then use to create your own mixtures to create these potions.
  • Unlock and play as different characters who all play differently.

Wings of Endless Review Cons

  • No actual graphics settings.
  • You cannot remap the controls.
  • Any interactions don’t auto-scroll.
  • Very little voice work, and instead it’s just text.
  • To open chests and use interactive points, you have to press up, but it only works with the d-pad and not the stick.
  • Potion cooldowns are not great, and they count for all potions, not just the one you are using.
  • I found the game flow to not be that straightforward or obvious, it gives you so much choice that you can get lost so often.
  • There are a lot of annoying platform sections; the way it’s structured makes it more frustrating than fun.
  • Poison is so easy to get, and then that saps all your antidotes and health potions.
  • I am not a fan of hitting spikes that send you back to the last place you were beforehand.
  • It is very easy and totally possible to screw your game up by having it where you are stuck at low health in a dangerous spot.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
