He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction Revealed
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction Announced

Mattel and Limited Run Games have teamed up to announce He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, a new 2D brawler. Unveiled during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, the retro-inspired game is being developed by Bitmap Bureau, known for their work on Final Vendetta. The game is set to launch in 2026 for consoles and PC, with physical pre-orders and a digital release coming in early 2026.
This is a true “love letter” to fans of the iconic 80s cartoon, with visuals and designs inspired by the classic series. Players will take control of Eternia’s greatest heroes, including He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms, as they battle against Skeletor and his forces of evil. Even He-Man’s fearless feline companion, Battle Cat, joins the fight to save Eternia.
What to Expect from the New He-Man Game
The game will feature over 12 action-packed levels where players can use a variety of character-specific moves, abilities, and power-ups to stop Skeletor from carrying out an ancient ritual. Limited Run Games CEO Josh Fairhurst noted that the game is the “Masters of the Universe arcade game I yearned for as a child,” highlighting its nostalgic appeal.
The partnership with Mattel underscores the company’s strategy of bringing its popular toy brands into the digital games space. This title, with its fast-paced, modern gameplay and authentic pixel-art animation, aims to appeal to both lifelong fans and a new generation of players.
