Juicy Realm Review (PlayStation 5)

Juicy Realm Review is a roguelike game in which players must square off against bizarre fruits all across the world. The line between the animal and the plant world has become blurred, and the food chain has been completely disrupted. As one of the first explorers of the newly discovered plant empire, you must continuously drive deeper and deeper into the enemy’s lair. Defeat bizarre and colorful fruits while retrieving new gear, weapons, and resources to defend yourself and expand your base camp. If you’re unable to defeat the overwhelming destructive force of the plant army alone, invite a few friends to lend a hand and help you discover the secrets behind this strange new world.

  • You have a handy Crosshair showing at all times to help with aiming.
  • The compendium houses all collected and encountered enemies, and weapons and displays them so you can read up on them.
  • The auto-aim helps people who may struggle with dual stick controls as you just need to use the left stick to move and the shooting is taken care of.
  • A central hub is where you can swap characters, interact with people, buy upgrades, etc.
  • The map fills in as you play.
  • After clearing an area you get a loot chest.
  • Weapon drops will show a quick green or red arrow to tell you if it’s good or bad.

Juicy Realm Review Cons:

  • The dual stick works fine but the sticks move independently.
  • The game does little to explain itself.
  • Levels never feel like they randomize as I have run the same route multiple times.
  • Lacks a repetitive hook.
  • Not that difficult.
  • Cannot change control layout.
  • Guns are fun but never feel new.
  • No online.
  • The screen can get very chaotic and busy.
  • Very plain.
  • No permanent unlocks just the ability to bank a small amount of coin.
  • Some of the characters unlock are grindy.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
