Puppet House Review (PlayStation 5)
Puppet House Review, Puppet House is a puzzle-adventure horror with escape room elements. Sense of unease is perfectly balanced with a touch of B-movie horror humor that evokes the charm of classic 80s and 90’st horror movies and games. A freak ritual creates a killer puppet, murdering anyone who enters the ventriloquist’s mansion. Detective Rick, seeking missing locals, will soon face his greatest horror.
Puppet House Review Pros:
- Decent graphics.
- 6.15GB download size.
- Platinum trophy.
- Horror adventure gameplay.
- Controller settings – Invert axis and sensitivity slider.
- First-person view.
- A full 3D game world.
- Good voice work.
- Button prompts and interactive markers help learn the controls.
- Subtitles – on/off.
- In-game cutscenes and interactions.
- Puzzles throughout the game.
- The game world is a house that is said to be haunted along with the surrounding area and outhouses.
- Your camera is used to take pictures of clues to help with puzzles.
- Find drawings to get some basic story info.
- Very atmospheric.
- You are trying to find your friend who went missing but also to debunk the myths of the house being haunted.
- Quick time event sequences.
- Occasional jump scares.
- The game is a lot of finding a clue and then taking it to the puzzle and then using your picture of the solution to solve the puzzle.
- Your character narrates his actions and story as you play.
- Excellent lighting.
- Lasts about five odd hours.
- It is satisfying when you nail the puzzle or sus where the clues are.
- Fantastic works of art around the world.
- Overall I found the game very intriguing and it had just enough going on to keep me engaged, I mean I played through the whole game in one sitting.
Puppet House Review Cons:
- The voice acting is not good, it’s like he wants to do the best Batman voice and doesn’t quite pull it off.
- You get very little guidance.
- The story flows well except for every two or three puzzles you will just come to an abrupt halt as you struggle to find what to do.
- Having any sort of break from the game is not wise as you don’t have a detailed itinerary of events so you have to rely on remembering where and what to do.
- Short game, only a handful of hours.
- The jump scares and appearance of the doll is very telegraphed.
- No replay value.
- Doesn’t offer any sort of level selection or way to go back in after finishing the game, annoying when you only miss one item for the Platinum trophy!
