Stunt Flyer Review Pros:

  • Cartoon graphics.
  • 296MB download size.
  • Own in-game achievements.
  • Opening tutorial section.
  • Flying gameplay.
  • Originally released on the Wii.
  • A full 3D game world.
  • You can do quick turns and barrelled rolls.
  • Split screen mode support.
  • Earn EXP in the open world and level up to increase your rank.
  • A full map and you can jump to events from it.
  • Open world and you can fly up to event rings and go through them to trigger them.
  • Events you have taken part in will emit a light to help find them.
  • The airfield hangar is where you can choose the island you are on, choose any unlocked plane, and choose your pilot avatar.
  • Simple big bright menu buttons.
  • Fast loading times.
  • In-game cutscenes but I mean it’s mostly for crashing the plane.
  • Stats are rolling text at the bottom of the pause menu.
  • Earned achievements will pop up.
  • When flying near an airfield you can press a button to auto land safely.
  • Unlock rewards from the achievements.
  • Find hidden presents for Rewards.
  • Autopilot can kick in at times.
  • Photo mode integration.
  • The guns you shoot are water and to refill your guns you have to fly near water.
  • Find and fly through bonus rings for exp.
  • There is Ai characters flying around the world.
  • It’s a game that a younger player could enjoy as the open world lets them still get the feeling of progression and it hides all the annoying controls needed for intricate turns etc.
  • Handy details button to explain the criteria of an event or reward.
  • Different event types like watering pumpkins, time trials racing, etc.
  • Flying around collecting the presents and rings is quite relaxing and enjoyable.
  • I found I could just mong out and explore the world.
  • Light up the lights under bridges.
  • UFOs are in the world.
  • Basically, the game is a great time waster and fun to play when you are out in the open world but falls apart when you do the events.
  • Great-looking islands.
  • Nonviolent game.
  • The locations actually have a lot of depth for secrets and routes to find.
  • Handy lock on when shooting presents etc.
  • Very generous respawn position.

Stunt Flyer Review Cons:

  • You cannot remap the controls.
  • No way to Invert the axis or use sensitivity sliders.
  • Minor graphical hiccups occasionally.
  • Slowdown can happen even when no one else is around.
  • No game options.
  • Playing the game in events shows off everything tedious about the controls.
  • You don’t have any camera control.
  • Any type of precision or needing a tight turn is a nightmare as the handling is really loose.
  • Events with timing highlight the annoying crashing it does. Any contact with anything causes you to ragdoll but you cannot do anything like speed it up or skip the cutscene instead, you just have to wait whilst the timer continues to tick.
  • The earn exp thing is not important and you can just sit there holding down the barrel roll button to rank up.
  • The music sounds generic and not great.
  • When you have finished an achievement so say barrel rolls, you then no longer earn exp from barrel rolls.
  • Looks and feels like a mobile game from yesteryear.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
