Independent developer Peacebreak Studio has officially revealed Beaten Path, a new turn-based tactical RPG that promises to blend deep strategic combat with a compelling fantasy narrative. The game, which is set in the world of Celestia, follows the story of Panna, a young adventurer caught in a mysterious time loop. The title is planned for a 2026 release on PC, but gamers can help make it a reality by supporting its Kickstarter campaign, which began today.

The Kickstarter campaign has a modest goal of just $20,000 USD, with copies of the game available for pledges as low as $20. Backers who choose higher tiers can get early access to a beta build and even contribute to the game’s design, creating their own weapons, enemies, or even new playable characters. This approach allows the developers to involve the community from the earliest stages of development.

What to Expect from Beaten Path

Beaten Path is taking inspiration from beloved classics in the genre, such as Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics. The game features grid-based encounters that emphasise careful positioning and unit synergy. Players can customise their units with a flexible dual-job system and choose from over 20 unique characters and 300 job combinations.

The game also promises a rich overworld filled with shifting weather and landmarks to explore. The soundtrack, a powerful Celtic-infused score, is being composed by the team at Scarlet Moon. The mystery at the core of the game, unravelling a forgotten war and the protagonist’s role in it, is sure to capture the attention of fans of tactical RPGs.
