Hot Blood Review (PlayStation 5)

Hot Blood Review, It’s time to dish out some carnage in Hot Blood, the next low-poly 3D beat ’em up from the creator of Drunken Fist! Take the role of sassy smack-talking heroine Roxy as she’s taken off her guard when a zombie apocalypse breaks out while she’s shopping at the mall with her boyfriend. Can she find her boyfriend and escape alive?

  • Still art cutscenes.
  • Simple controls.

  • Earn cash from zombies.
  • As you fight you earn EXP and level up to get new attacks and more health.
  • Pick up various items and throw them at zombies, pick up weapons, and use them for a limited time.
  • Slow-mo final hit kill.
  • A semi-open world that encourages exploration.
  • The goal of the game is to clear out the 30 stores in the mall that are infested with zombies.
  • Arrows outside a door show if you have or have not finished that Store.
  • Death resets you back to the last store you cleared.
  • Good soundtrack.
  • A lot of physics at play.
  • Pick up bottles of coke to drink in order to raise health.
  • After finishing the 30 stores you unlock a bonus area that is a lot of fun.
  • Very easy to get a Platinum trophy.

Hot Blood Review Cons:

  • Cannot remap controls or even view what they are.
  • The hit detection is really bad.
  • Angles of the camera go crazy in the smaller store.
  • The main character walks like she’s wet herself and the winds change.
  • All the clothes are very scant.
  • No replay value.
  • The stores at the end are just full of cheap big strong enemies.
  • The grab-and-throw mechanic is sluggish and imprecise.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
